"If Only He Had A Goatee"

Everyone says that John Whitten looks just like Shaun. One of our Sunday school teachers will look at him and say, "If only John Whitten had a goatee...". I agree with them most of the time, but I like to think that there is still a little bit of me in there somewhere.

This morning I sent Shaun a picture of our chubby little boy. At the moment I snapped the picture with my cell phone it literally looked like Shaun staring back at me. Shaun must have thought the same thing, because he did a little editing to the pictures and sent it back to me.

this is the picture I sent Shaun

Our Sunday

Today was a pretty laid back day for the Hays family. We headed to church this morning, ate lunch and got the kids down for their afternoon naps. Shaun studied while the kids slept and I cleaned up around the house. My parents came by to visit for a couple of hours, and Lillian LOVED having "Dad" (my Dad) push her in the swing. The Nations family came over for dinner and of course Eli and Lillian loved running around playing together. It was another beautiful day outside, so we stayed out until it got to dark to see. Shaun grilled us some very yummy hamburgers- Thank honey! And before it was Lillian's bedtime we got to Skype with my little brother Mark who is currently in Brazil on business. It was a great way to end out weekend!

We Have Moved...

OUTSIDE!! The kids and I spent every moment of every day last week outside! We ate snacks and lunch outside, we played, we colored, painted...all of if outside. We only went inside for naps and to use the potty. And we were especially excited to get to head back to the zoo! Last Wednesday we met some friends at the zoo and just strolled around enjoying the weather and the animals.

Five Months

Ahww! My sweet John Whitten is already five months old! I say it every month, but my little boy is growing up so fast. However, I do not feel like I have missed a moment of it! When John Whitten was first born I would drop Lillian off at PDO on Tuesday/Thursdays and go home and do nothing buy cuddle him on the couch or lay with him on our bed. I would just stare at his sweet face, getting to know each little wrinkle and dimple on his little body. Over the last few months we have enjoyed story times together, baby play dates, M&M, we have cuddled and played, read books together...I haven't missed a thing. So while I can honestly say that I feel like these last few months have flown by, I can't say that I wasn't with him loving every mintue of it.

John Whitten,
You are a breath of fresh air. The joy and love that you have brought to our family is beyond measure and your Daddy and I praise God every single day of your sweet life. You recently discovered your feet, and LOVE them. You watch everything your big sister does, and love it when she acts silly trying to make you laugh. Everyday I fall more and more in love with you.

Rosemary Park

Rosemary is not really the name of this park, but it is the road that it is located on. Alli introduced me to this park, which is located three minutes from our house, and I have simply fallen in love with it. On Monday Lillian, John Whitten and I met some friends there to play and picnic and we were the only people there. It was so nice. We didn't see Shaun at all on Monday, so when he came home yesterday for a little bit I thought it would be a great idea to run over to Rosemary park and let Lillian play before dinner. She was so excited to see Shaun and even more excited to have him chase her all over the park.

John Whitten stayed cozy in the Eurgo

Just One Of The Eight Million Reason Why...

I LOVE my husband- he brings Lillian flowers. From time to time Shaun will come home with tulips or daisies for "one of his leading ladies", last night he brought home three sweet roses for her. She was so excited and I know that it made her feel special.

Truth Be Known

A blog that I read from time to time was talking about how sometimes a persons' blog doesn't always "tell it how it is" and it challenged you to post a few "truth be known" things that you would otherwise leave out.

Truth Be Know...

1. I have a HUGE problem with anxiety. Alli always jokes with me and says that I need medicinal marijuana.

2. I hate putting laundry away, and will sometimes let a basket full of clean clothes sit in our room for a couple of days. I don't mind the washing, drying or folding part of laundry but I loathe putting them up.

3. I had a glass of wine once every other week while I was pregnant...with the blessing of my doctor!

4. One of the reasons I love going to church on Wednesday nights, other than the fellowship, is that I don't have to cook dinner.

5. I would love to take a trip with my husband, just the two of us, but when push comes to shove I can't leave my sweet babies. But I am great at planning our getaway, even if we never actually get away.

6. Shaun and I don't have a fairytale marriage. It is something that we actively work at every day of our lives. We are still learning how to love each other in a way that glorifies God.

7. I am not necessarily jealous of my friends that have full time jobs, because I LOVE being home with my kiddos. However, I definitely do feel envy from time to time of the material things that a two income family can have. Still, I would never trade these years at home with my kids. My babies will be in elementary school soon enough and then it will be back to work for this mommy.

8. I HAVE to eat chocolate everyday!

9. I worry all the time about Lillian's temper tantrums. I self diagnose her with aspersers every other day of the week.

10. Shaun doesn't like John Whitten to sleep in the bed with us, but when he falls asleep I am known to go and get him out of his crib for some sweet cuddles.

11. I use to smoke, and there are days that I am one two year old melt down away from buying a pack of parliaments and lighting up!

12. On that note, Shaun is a "stress smoker". Once or twice a year he will come home smelling like a cigarette. I give him a hard time about it and won’t allow him to kiss me until he has showered and brushed his teeth, but secretly I love it.

13. I give dogs chocolate.

14. I wish that I had some kind of crafty talent like so many of my stay at home mommy friend.

15. After four years of marriage, I still have not legally changed my name from Greene to Hays.

Valentine's Day At The Park

I don't know anyone who was staying inside today. The weather was amazing so of course where did we head to this morning...the PARK! After packing a yummy picnic lunch the kids and I headed to a wonderful little park in Vestavia to meet Lillian's friend Miller and my friend Nicole! The kids had a great time playing with each other while Nicole, John Whitten and I watched them from our picnic blankets. We stayed in there for hours playing and soaking up this terrific weather! I wish that I taken more pictures, but I did remember to snap a few.

these two couldn't wait to break into the picnic basket

Look Who Found Their Feet

Our sweet John Whitten recently discovered that he had two little feet that he could grab, and he hasn't let go of them sense. I love these little discoveries...his sweet little life is so simple. He just wants to hang out with his feet, eat, play and sleep. Not a care or worry in the world. I love you John Whitten...and your piggies too!
