Boys And Their Toys

We love having a little boy! All of the sudden we have race cars mixed in the toy bins with Barbie dolls, and just all of this BOY stuff laying around our house. After having nothing but girl toys and clothes in our lives for two and half years all of the sweet baby boy things have been a nice change in our lives. Yesterday I picked up a little race car track toy that John Whitten LOVES. He cries if you turn it off or if Lillian takes the cars away from him. Oh, and the little boy loves anything that is a ball or shaped like a ball. I imagine that we have some days at the baseball field's to look forward to.

Six Month Check Up

Today was John Whitten's six month check up with our favorite pediatrician Dr. Walley! Lets just get right to the good stuff:
  • Weight: 21.6 (95th-97th percentile)
  • Height: 27.5 (95th percentile)
  • Head Circumference: 17 1/4 (50th-75th percentile)
Dr. Walley is a HUGE supporter of breastfeeding (one of the reasons I chose him when Shaun and I interviewed pediatrician three years ago), and he was so impressed and happy that every pound of John Whitten's 21 pounds was purely from breast milk! And I have to say that I am pretty proud of it myself. Breastfeeding is a huge commitment and there are deffinitly times that I LOATHE it, but I love knowing that there is one things that I can do for him that no one else can. It definitly gives us a special bond. We still haven't started baby food, we skip cereal all together, but will probably start playing around with baby food in the next couple of months. According to Dr. Walley in terms of nutrition breast milk is enough for John Whitten until he is 9 months old.

John Whitten is sitting up really well now and wants to play all of the time. He just recently started crying when you took something away, which I thought was really cute. It is amazing to see his little personality emerge more and more everyday. He sleeps great at night, sunggled right in between Shaun and I. We love that little boy so much, and I am so proud of the little person that he is.

John Whitten's FIRST Play Date!

Today John Whitten had his very first play date with a baby his age! Sweet Lynlee was born just one week before my John Whitten, and her Mommy Mary Micheal is one of the sweetest people that I know. They were so cute together and John Whitten spent the first twenty minutes of the play date just trying to figure out who Lynlee was and what she was doing rolling all over the place. Obviously, we are still very much so in the parallel play stage, but I look forward to watching these two play together as they get older.

they were already doing such a good job sharing...

But John Whitten wasn't the only one who had a little friend over today. Aidan is a little boy that I recently started watching a couple days a week, so he was also over today while Lynlee was here to play. Lillian loves him, sometimes a little too much, but they play well together and our days are never boring when they are together.

Ballet and Bailey

This past Monday we got the pleasure of watching our niece, Bailey, for the day since she was still out of school for spring break. Lillian was so excited that Bailey was going to come and watch her "do my ballet". Every time the teacher asked Lillian to do something Lillian would say, "Okay" and then turn around and yell over to Bailey, "watch me Bailey, watch me". It was so cute! After ballet we picked up Chick-Fil-A and headed to the park for a little picnic and to play. Lillian and Bailey had a good time playing at the park, but I knew I had to get Lillian home for her nap so we had to leave a little earlier than I think Bailey had wanted to. Once we got home Lillian napped while Bailey and I played with John Whitten.

I was so excited to get to spend the day with my sweet niece. Bailey is such a joy to be around and always so helpful. She will be welcoming a little sister of her own this summer and I have no doubt that she will be the best big sister there is!

Lillian trying to get John Whitten out so he could watch her...

he was happy just watching from his carseat.

notice the "big boy" outfit he is wearing

Do You Think They Look Alike?

I think these two look a lot alike, but you be the judge....

My Sweet Lillian at 7 months

John Whitten at months

I LOVE those two sweet faces. There are days that I look at them and simply cannot believe that they are actually MY children. It is humbling to know that God has given me these two beautiful babies; that he actually chose me to be their Mommy. I am so in love with Lillian and John Whitten and could not feel more blessed.

Picnic, Pizza And Park

Shaun has been working and studying a lot lately (nothing knew there), but yesterday he surprised us and came home after work instead of going to the library. Coming home wasn't his only surprise. He also brought flowers, a sweet card, stickers for Lillian and a gift certificate for a facial and massage for Mommy!

I wanted to take full advantage of Shaun being home for the evening so we load up the kids, picked up pizza and headed to the park for a picnic! The weather has been great, and the kids and I have loved every minute of it. It was great to spend some quality family time together, and Lillian was so excited to "swing with Daddy"! On our way home from the park we decided to stop and get ice cream, just in case Lillian wasn't dirty enough already.  I know that Shaun has so much on his plate these days with work and studying for the CPA, so taking a whole evening out of his week without looking at a book or opening his computer is a BIG deal.

Shaun being silly...

Lillian actually took this picture...pretty good right?

I LOVE MY BOYS!
