Almost Someone's Birthday!

Tomorrow will be Lillian's 1 year old birthday; I cannot believe that it has gone by so fast. I have been with her everyday sense the day she was born, and some how I still feel like there are things that I have missed. Tonight I sat in her room and thought about when Korey and Shaun painted it, and how excited I was when her furniture came. I thought about how Shaun and I use to sit on the floor every night after dinner and eat ice cream together. We would sit there and eat our ice cream and dream about our baby girl. We would talk about what color eyes she would have, and who she would look like. We would stare at our ultra sound pictures and imagine soccer games, birthday parties, and kindergarten. Never did I think that it would be so bitter sweet to watch her grow into the beautiful child she is becoming. Hopefully I will be able to make it through tomorrow with out being a total basket case.

*I was 38 weeks pregnant when Shaun took this picture; we had Lillian three days later.

A Little Shopping

This past Tuesday one of mine and Alli's most favorite kids clothing stores The Lili Pad had a HUGE sale. Twice a year they have this sale and everything in the store is 50% off! So of course we were there with all of the other crazy moms to comb the racks for some of the cutest clothes I have ever seen. Alli had told me that she had purposely left her credit card at home so that she would not spend over a certain amount, which I thought was pretty smart. But about ten minutes after we got there she came over to me with her arms full of stuff and said, "I am going to need your credit card". We both did more than a little damage to our bank accounts, and I am pretty sure that Shaun has grounded me from shopping for Lillian. He did however love how adorable Lillian looked in her new outfits.

I am so in love with this bathing suit, but even more in love with the little girl wearing it.

a new birthday outfit for Lillian!

this was my favorite new outfit, it is so cute!

Eli was fussy and needed cuddles, but Lillian decided she needed some cuddles too.

Lillian would pat Eli's head when he would cry...it was so sweet to see her have that compassion.

Mother's Day

This past Mother's Day was a very special one for me. Last year I was 38 weeks pregnant on Mother's Day, but I still didn't really feel like a mom yet. However Lillian was born four days later and in that one moment, as I sat holding our little girl, I understood in every sense of the word what being a Mommy meant. The love that I instantly felt for Lillian was so overwhelming that I cannot even think about it without getting teary eyed. Children are God's greatest reward, and I just wonder what I did so right to deserve such a gift. I hope that everyone had a wonderful Mother's Day!!

we turned Lillian's car seat around...I cried of course.

Lillian's First Birthday Party

This past Saturday we had Lillian's first birthday party! Shaun and I were so grateful for our friends and family that could come and help us celebrate our little girl's first year. The weather could not have been nicer, and everyone seemed to have a great time playing in the park and eating cake. Lillian did not care to much for her birthday tutu, and she was out of it before most of the guests even got there. At least we got some cute pictures of her before she demanded we take it off.
By the time things were winding down Lillian was more than ready for her afternoon nap. She was a sleep before I even got her buckled up in her car seat.

Loving On Moxie

Even when Lillian does not feel well, she always wants to give Moxie a little love. We have been trying to teach her "nice hands" and she seems to be catching the hang of it. It is usually poor Moxie and sweet Eli who are the victims of Lillian's "love".

Lillian loves to sit on Moxie when she is laying down like this.

Lets Hope It's Just a Bug

Tuesday Lillian and I went to our mommy & me class and she played great with the other kids, and even shared her snack with some new friends. But later that afternoon while we were shopping for some last minute birthday supplies Lillian started to feel really warm. So I darted into Rite Aid to purchase a thermometer and she had 101.8! Of course the first thing that popped into my mind was the anesthesiologist telling us to really watch her because of all the food and fluid that she aspirated into her lungs. She had told us that if Lillian had any kind of fever to call our doctor immediately, which of course I did. Our doctor told us to go ahead and bring her in just to be on the safe side sense she did aspirate a lot of food and fluid during her surgery. Although her lungs were still "wet" all of her other lab work checked out ok. We headed home with the simple instructions for us to bring her back in if her fever continued or got any worse.

This morning Lillian woke-up and cuddled for longer than usual, but played and ate just like normal for the rest of the day. Right before Shaun got home from work I noticed that Lillian was getting warm again and by the time Shaun walked through the door her fever was 101-and that was after I had already given her Tylenol. We pretty much spent the rest of the night cuddling on the couch and loving on our little girl. Shaun and I are just hoping that this is just a bug and that it will pass before her birthday party this Saturday.

As you can see Shaun and I cannot take our eyes off of Lillian for even a second! From the moment she wakes up in the mornings until we put her to bed at night, Lillian is on the move and is getting into everything.
