So a few years ago I checked out about 20 different children's books for a paper I was doing for one of my child development classes. Well, today I shamefully sent Shaun to return them to the library for me. I tired to get Shaun to tell them that I had tragically died in some kind of crazy accident, but instead he just told them that I was to scared to bring them back myself because I feared incarceration- which was actually the truth. Now originally I had checked them out from the Mountain Brook library but knowing that they would put the place on lock down if I did not pay my fee the second I drop the books off, I instead requested to Shaun to return the books to the Hoover Library. Apparently Hoover is much more forgiving than Mountain Brook, and they would have only charged me $4.25 for each book and that would have been the end of it. Unfortunately Mountain Brook really wants to get their money from you if you are late with their books, and the clerk at the Hoover Library totaled my outstanding late dues to $320!!!! (keep in mind these are four to ten page children's books)
.....I will give you a second to pick yourself up off the floor-
All I have to say is that I am pretty sure that I am officially WANTED by the Mountain Brook Library for outstanding fines; and believe me they will remain outstanding. But I am pretty sure that I will not be checking out any more books anytime soon.
