It Was Well Worth Waiting For...

Lillian's bed time routine is a pretty short and sweet one. We read a couple of books in the playroom, say goodnight to everything in the house, and then she lays down in her crib. I always attempt to sit down and rock with her, but she always pushes away trying to get to her bed. But tonight when I sat down with her she actually cuddled up and laid her head down on my chest. Since these opportunities are few and far between I took total advantage of those warm cuddles and just rocked and rocked with her all curled up. I thought that she had fallen asleep, but then she pushed up on me, took her paci out of her mouth, smiled and said, "Mama"!! Then she just stuck her paci back in and laid her head back down as if she says it all of the time. I could not help but to just start crying. I cannot tell you how long I have waited for this... I seriously have had dreams where she has said my name.

She hugged my neck and kissed my shoulder as I laid her down in her crib. For months I have heard nothing but, "Da Da" and I have envied Shaun for his easy syllable name. But tonight I got my "Mama", and it could not have come at a better time. My sweet Lillian had been saving it for a day like today, when she knew her Mommy needed a little pick me up. I love you so much sweet Lillian, you have brought such joy to my life.
