Baby Hays @ 12 Weeks

A couple of weeks ago we got some worrisome news about our sweet baby. My first trimester blood work had come back indicating that our baby was at "low risk" for neural tube defects. So our OB suggested that we have a high powered ultrasound to look at the spin and neck with a high risk doctor. Well, we had our appointment this past Friday and are happy to report that Baby Hays is perfect! His/Her spinal cord and neck looked great, and our doctor said that he was 70% certain that Baby Hays was developing normally. If our blood work from Friday comes back normal, he said he would then feel 90% certain that everything was fine.

It was amazing to see our little 12 weeks old baby moving and bouncing all over the place. We could not believe how active he/she was; the ultrasound tech even had trouble getting the different measurements she needed. Our ultrasound lasted a whole HOUR, so we really go to see a lot of our precious baby. The doctor did the second half of the ultrasound and said that after watching him/her move and bounce all over the place he would recommend that we go ahead and buy the book, "Raising A Spirited Child".

During the ultrasound our very sweet tech turned to Shaun and I asked us, "Do you guys want to know what you are having?". I have to admit that in that moment I REALLY wanted to know, but having Shaun there helped me to stick to my guns and we chose not to find out. As soon as we had moved on from that topic, I just enjoyed watching our baby move around and was happy that we didn't find out. It is nice to dream about a little boy one day, and then imagine another little girl the next. There really are very few real surprises in life, and this is definitely one of them.

For You formed my inward parts;
You covered me in my mother's womb, I praise You because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; marveouls are Your works, and that my soul knows full well.
Psalm 139:13-14

you could see all ten fingers and toes!

That is such good news! I had that scan with Haley just because my OB said insurance covered it and I wanted to see her again and it was such a relief to know that everything was ok. You have such willpower to not find out the sex. I would never have been able to resist.

Great news Mel!
Can I just say that I felt Parker at 14 weeks & he never slowed up!!! As soon as he came in the world I knew that he was a spirited child. (Baby Whisperer book confirmed I was right) Whew! Good luck! They will wear you out with all their energy.
