Last week I was really struggling with breastfeeding because of an infection in my breast, which made feeding Whitten very painful. Not to mention it makes you feel like you have the flu-fever, chills, aches. But I was adamant for some reason about not giving him a bottle. I was scared that we would give him the bottle and he would develop a preference between bottle and well...boob. A few days went by and it finally got to the point where I was crying while nursing Whitten it hurt so badly. Shaun begged me to just let him give Whitten a bottle of breastmilk that I had already pumped, and after a few days of agony I gave in and allowed it. I think Shaun was just really wanting to feed him, but as we soon discovered Whitten had already developed a preference...he is a boob man! Much to Shaun's frustration and my bitter/sweet joy, Whitten HATES the bottle. Shaun put it in his mouth, I cried, and Whitten just stared at Shaun as if he was saying, "What do you want me to do with this Daddy?" He played with it a little bit, but then started to get frustrated because he was hungry and didn't want to drink out of the bottle. So even though we were back to painful nursing, I still was happy that he prefered me over the bottle. I am sure that in a few months I will find this very frustrating however, when I cannot leave him because no one else can feed him. But that is something I will worry about much later down the road.
I went to the doctor that next day and got some antibiotics to clear up the infection and after a few days on the medicine the pain and fever were completely gone.
he just seemed very confused

That's exactly how Hudson was...I offered him a bottle one time b/c I thought I was going back to work-- he just grinned at first and let it drip into his mouth, then fussed...all of this was similar minus the infection-- which btw, why didn't you tell me? I had a few clogged ducts and I know it hurt, I KNOW yours did! So glad it's all better!
