Today was John Whitten's six month check up with our favorite pediatrician Dr. Walley! Lets just get right to the good stuff:
- Weight: 21.6 (95th-97th percentile)
- Height: 27.5 (95th percentile)
- Head Circumference: 17 1/4 (50th-75th percentile)
Dr. Walley is a HUGE supporter of breastfeeding (one of the reasons I chose him when Shaun and I interviewed pediatrician three years ago), and he was so impressed and happy that every pound of John Whitten's 21 pounds was purely from breast milk! And I have to say that I am pretty proud of it myself. Breastfeeding is a huge commitment and there are deffinitly times that I LOATHE it, but I love knowing that there is one things that I can do for him that no one else can. It definitly gives us a special bond. We still haven't started baby food, we skip cereal all together, but will probably start playing around with baby food in the next couple of months. According to Dr. Walley in terms of nutrition breast milk is enough for John Whitten until he is 9 months old.
John Whitten is sitting up really well now and wants to play all of the time. He just recently started crying when you took something away, which I thought was really cute. It is amazing to see his little personality emerge more and more everyday. He sleeps great at night, sunggled right in between Shaun and I. We love that little boy so much, and I am so proud of the little person that he is.
