We had a great Father's Day weekend! On Saturday Shaun spent the whole day catching up on some yard work, while the kids and I ran errands and went to the grocery store. Lillian and John Whitten both got hair cuts. This was kind of a big deal sense it was only Lillian's second time in her four years of life to have her hair cut. I had them cut three inches off...eek! It now falls to the middle of her back instead of down to her bottom.
Shaun did a great job in the yard, but we missed spending time with him, so we more than made up for it on Sunday. Lillian and John Whitten both came to cuddle us early Sunday morning around 5:30 and 6:00. We all four ended up sleeping late all cuddled together in the bed; so late that we even missed church. We got up around 9:00 and Lillian wanted to immediately give Shaun all of his Father's Day presents. The poor guy hadn't even gotten out of the bed yet before Lillian was giving him the card she had made him. She was so excited and kept telling him, "Happy Father's Day, you are the best Daddy". It was really sweet and totally melted Shaun's heart. We did cards and presents, made a huge and yummy breakfast and then headed to the zoo for some family time. The weather was perfect, the kids were in great moods, and the zoo was even giving away free ice cream. After spending hours at the zoo, we drug Lillian and John Whitten out of there and headed home. We capped our Father's Day off by grilling out with the Nations that evening.
I am so very thankful for Shaun and for who he is. He understands that his love, discipline, words, examples and leadership will impact our children's lives years down the road. He takes time to encourage their hearts and to pray over them. He is kind and patient with them. It is an honor to watch Shaun be a father everyday to our children.
Thank you Shaun for always being there for our babies. They are so blessed to have you. Happy Father's Day!!
Lillian is very serious about baby wearing.
"our boys" as Lillian now refers to them.

....may you have the power to understand, as all God's people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep His love really is.
