Breathing Treatments

Poor John Whitten has had his first croup like experience. He got so bad that we ended up at the after hours clinic Thursday night. After two breathing treatments there he seemed to be wheezing less and breathing a lot more comfortably. He hated every second if it and screamed through both treatments and did not like having the mask on his face. Lillian cried because John Whitten was crying. And of course Shaun was stuck at work, so I was trying to juggle/comfort both of them by myself. It was a mess. After we finally got out of there I met Shaun and let him take the kids home while I went to Walgreens to get all of the stuff we needed.

We followed up with our pediatrician today. Basically John Whitten has a bad case of croup that was causing narrowing of his airway and then he would have these horrible fits of this bad dry cough/wheeze and couldn't catch his breath at all. It is pitiful to watch. Hopefully the steroids and the breathing treatments will get it all under control. We are just praying that he/we can get a good nights sleep soon. On a side note, he still hates the breathing mask. Even after we got him the cool one that looks like a fish.

Poor guy. Colton hated the breathing treatments at first too, but after several of them I think JW will get used to it and won't think a thing about it.
Raelyn has already had to have one this season too. That croup is NO FUN!!!
