Camp Out At McWane

Last night Shaun and Lillian went to a "camp out" at the McWane Science Center. They had the best time! I was just certain that they would come home at 1:00 in the morning or something like that, but Lillian had so much fun that she was totally happy to sleep there. They ate dinner when they first got there and they played for a while after that before going to see a movie in the iMax theater. That was the first time Lillian had seen an IMAX movie and she kept telling me, "We were IN the movie, Mommy". After that they had a snack and made lighting bugs(they really light up)! They played more and then before bed they saw and animal show. Lillian is still talking about the HUGE spider they had there.

Shaun finally got her to lay down a little bit after 11:00 PM. She slept great, but poor Shaun only got a couple of hours. He was so worried she would wake up and wonder off while he was sleeping. When I asked her how she slept she said, "Good. My Daddy held me all night. He didn't want anyone to get me". The coolest part to me was where Shaun set up their bed. He put it right under a huge skeleton dinosaur. Can you imagine falling asleep looking up a big dinosaur. I think it would be neat as a grown up, now just think about seeing that through the eyes of a four year old!

I absolutely love the relationship that Shaun and Lillian have with each other. In so many ways it is a natural one, but he really does work at it. He has said to me numerous times, "I don't want to sit down at dinner one night and not know what her favorite color is that week". I hope Lillian always knows how special it is to have a Dad like hers :)
