Pillow Talk

One of my favorite times of the day with Lillian is putting her to bed. Not because it is always easy to keep her there after the door has been closed, but because of the little conversations that we have before we say our good nights. We talk about our day, who we saw and who we played with. She usually admits to some wrong doing at bed time like, "I bite Li' arm". And then always proceeds to apologize out loud to whoever it is she might have wronged- "Sorry Li' " (Li' is Eli by the way". Tonight Lillian was very chatty so I thought I would share some of the funny things she said to me.

Lillian: See my family...see my Daddy.
Me: We will see our family this weekend and Daddy is at school working hard.
Lillian: Daddy working hard for family?
Me:Yes Lillian, Daddy works very hard for our family.
Me: What are you going to dream about tonight?
Lillian: Jesus!
*usually she says juice, Li', playing, cakes...so it melted my heart when her response was Jesus.
Lillian spent a few minutes going over our the body parts tonight and when she got to her eye instead of saying eyes like she always dose, she said "my eyeball".
We always read three books in bed before our pillow talk and snuggle time. And tonight while we were reading "Five Little Monkeys Jumping On The Bed" Lillian pointed out that the monkeys didn't have "gates" on their bed. She calls her bed rails gates. Every time I read the part about the monkey falling out of bed she would say, "No gates Momma. Monkey fall...no gates". Then she would point to her bed rails and say, "I not fall out, I have gates".
Sometimes I literally have to make myself get up and leave her room, because I could talk to that sweet little girl for hours. She is so smart, so witty and so funny! I cannot even begin to tell you how much I love that little girl. How blessed I am to be able to be her Mommy!
