Today our sweet baby boy is 9 months old! Where has the time gone? No matter how old he gets I think I will always look at him as a baby...my baby! John Whitten is all over the place these days, and it is getting harder and harder to keep him out of things. He has the sweetest cry, and throws the cutest little fits if Lillian takes a toy away from him. He is still only nursing, but not from a lack of Shaun and I trying to give him food. He just is not into it and will make himself throw up if you try to feed him anything with even the slightest texture. John Whitten is not only crawling but also cruising down our couch and the length of his crib. I swear he is the most laid back little boy I have ever met and is always smiling. He still likes to be worn in the Ergo, he loves to cuddle, he LOVES Lillian and is constantly laughing at her and all her silliness. He is still very much so a Mamma's boy, but has really warmed up to Shaun and smiles SO big whenever Shaun even looks at him. He is currently in a size 4 diaper and wearing 18-24 month clothes.
We went for his 9 month check up earlier today and here are the stats:
- Weight: 24 lbs 6 ounces (95th percentile)
- Height: 30 1/2 inches long (off the charts)
- Head Circumference: 18 inches (75th percentile)
Dr. Walley said the John Whitten was actually starting to "thin out" a little bit and I had been thinking the same thing for the last couple of weeks. We didn't really have much to talk about at this check up, but I was concerned about the whole eating food situation. For goodness sake John Whitten has 8 teeth, he should be able to eat something...right? He just really LOVES to breastfeed and show ZERO interest in eating food, even baby food. Dr. Walley told me that some kids, especially "efficient nursers", take a longer to start eating food but not to worry to much about it. He said that I provide him more calories in my breast milk than he even would get in one jar of baby food. We are going to keep trying to offer him food every day but it is not something I am going to let myself stress out about. I love my little boy so much and praise GOD every day for his sweet little life.
Don't worry John Whitten, I feel the same way when I get weighed too
He didn't like like having his head measured

Stinkin' cute boy!!! Same way with Hudson-- he was an efficient nurser and I swear Mel, although we consistently offered food, he really lived on nursing and Gerber crunchies until he was 18 months old-- he didn't want to eat anything else-- I tried, oh I tried, but he'd eat 3 bites from homemade baby food, or jarred and that was it for him....I'm with you, don't stress about it, he is perfect.
