A Typical Day In The Life

Every morning Shaun gets up and heads to the gym. He comes home and parks in the front so that the garage door doesn't wake me up (I think this is so sweet). While he is in the shower Lillian comes in and climbs in bed with me and usually falls back asleep. As Shaun gets dressed we have hushed conversations so not to wake up our little girl. Then before he leaves he will go into John Whitten's room, scope him out of his crib and bring him into our bed to cuddle with Lillian and I. He will tuck us all in, kiss all three of us, say a little prayer and then goes to work. He says that nothing makes him feel better than leaving all three of us cozy in bed in those early morning hours as he heads to work. And honestly, nothing makes me feel more provided for, protected and loved by my husband. He is a daily example to me of sacrificial love.

The kids and I usually are up thirty minutes to and hour after he leaves and we take our cuddles to the couch for some cartons before eating breakfast and getting dressed for the day. I have said it many times before, but one of my favorite things about being a stay at home mommy, is that I can just lose track of the days. It doesn't matter what day of the week it is, we do the same things...zoo, play date, park, picnics, crafts, pool, etc.  You have no idea how much I value and cherish this time with my little ones. And how thankful I am that Shaun not only supports my choice to stay home but honestly desires it in his heart, and is willing to sacrifice certain things for us to afford for me to be home. I am so aware that soon there will be 8:00-3:00 school days and sports to work around, spend the nights, and God forbid one day dating and then college, but when those days do come I will have no regrets. Yes, the days can be long, and no one cares if you are sick or tired, and usually any doctors or dentist appointments you have include taking your small children and a pound of goldfish with you. But I also know that even those long days are true blessings from the Lord. And hey, how many people can say that they had their last teeth cleaning with a 3 year old and a 18 month old sitting in their lap : )
