Counting Our Blessings: Our Wonderful Memorial Day

This past weekend was wonderful. We spent some much needed family time together and got to see a lot of Uncle Mark. Oh, and it was mine and Shaun's five year wedding anniversary! Friday we had lunch with Mark, Rachel and Mom after spending the morning at the park running around in the 93 degree heat! Saturday was our anniversary and Shaun and I just wanted to spend time together with our kids, so we headed to Oak Mountain State park to swim. We had a great time swimming and eating lots of shaved ice. John Whitten is our little fish and Lillian is our cautious one in the water. My brother Johnny and Emily where in town for the weekend so they offered/demanded to keep the kids for Shaun and I while we went out to dinner to celebrate our anniversary. Sunday Shaun and I decided to skip church and take the kids to the zoo. We had a blast and Lillian was so excited that Shaun was at the zoo with us. She kept saying, "Daddy, I'm so glad that you got to come to the zoo with us. You never come to the zoo with us.", it was so sweet. Monday, was Memorial Day and Mark's birthday so we headed over to my parents house around 10:30 and stayed all day! We seriously didn't leave there until 9:00 that night; the kids were just having too much fun. The grownups had a great time playing horse shoes and spending time with family. It seriously was one of the best weekends we have had in a while.
