Lillian will be eight months old in just two weeks, and she has not slept through the night in almost three months. Don't get me wrong, I am extremely thankful for the 3 1/2 almost 4 months that I had of eight straight hours a night of undisturbed sleep. But when the first two teeth started breaking ground all those hours of sugar plums and sweet dreams went out the window; and understandably so. But that was three months and two teeth ago and something has got to give. Every night Lillian wakes-up every 2 or 2 1/2 hours starting at 10:00. It is like she is a newborn all over again. Shaun has been trying to convince me to "Ferberize" her for a few weeks now (the Ferber method is just a controlled crying it out approach). But much to Shaun's frustration, I am too much of a softy and always go in there and pick Lillian up and rock her to sleep. Today I realized that Shaun is right and Lillian is very smart and strong willed and totally manipulates us when it comes to naps and bedtime. I mean, of course I understand that she would rather hang out with me and play than sleep, but she is a baby and needs that sleep to grow and develop. I have been allowing Lillian to make all of her decisions-when she sleeps, when she does not sleep- and that really has to stop. So tonight while some of our friends are out partying and celebrating the new year, Shaun and I will be starting Night #1 of operation Ferberize. Wish us luck!

Grayson slept in our room for the first year and when it was time to move her, she cried and cried. I had to finally let her cry it out and it was the best thing for her and us- it gets better and they learn quickly!! Good Luck!! A trick I learned quick is with enough soothing toys she can entertain herself back to sleep!
Girl, I hear you. Aubrey is just now starting to sleep through the night. She has her moments of baby whines at night, but will get herself back to sleep, ususally. She's a little over 3 months, so I know how hard it can be when you aren't getting a full night's rest. It's so important-- for baby and mom! Hope your Ferberizing goes well!! Stay strong!! :)
Rock on Mommy Mel ! Will you come ferberize Eli when you are done with Lillian ?!!
