Maybe We Need Dr. Ferber Again...

7:30- Lillian goes to bed


9:30- John Whitten nurses for thirty minutes


10:00- John Whitten goes down for the night


10:30-11:00- Shaun and I go to sleep


12:30- Lillian comes in our room to have a random conversation with us. We take her back to bed.


2:45- Wake up to John Whitten crying and find Lillian in the bed with us. Shaun takes Lillian back to bed and falls asleep with her for an hour. I nurse John Whitten and fall back asleep cuddling him in our bed.


3:30- Shaun comes back to our room and takes John Whitten back to his crib. Then Shaun gets back into our bed.  


3:45- John Whitten stirs...he has a stopped up nose and is getting frustrated while nursing. So Shaun and I turn on the lamp and spray saline mist up his nose and suck out his buggies. His screaming wakes Lillian up and she come in our room saying, "my baby brother crying...mommy need to feed him?". I nurse John Whitten back to sleep while Shaun take Lillian back to bed.


4:15- Lillian never went back to sleep and wants to come and get in bed with Shaun and I to "cuddle just one minute". We hear her coming down the hall so Shaun tries to head her off at the door. She dodges him and tries to run around our bed to my side but catches the corner of our sleigh bed with her head and starts screaming. Shaun turns on the lights picks her up and takes her back to her bed to comfort her. 


4:30- Lillian still screaming crying...she is exhausted by this point and can't settle herself down. I go into her room and switch with Shaun. I cuddle Lillian while he goes back to our bed. 


5:40- John Whitten is awake and wants to eat. Shaun bring him into our bed and I nurse him while I doze in and out of sleep. We fall back asleep with John Whitten in the bed with us.


7:00- I wake up and find ALL four of us in bed! 




Over the past few weeks our nights have been long, confusing, frustrating, funny and exhausting. Every morning Shaun and I try to piece our nights together because the last 10 hours seemed like a huge blur! I know that things will not be this way forever and I am trying to appreciate those crazy late night moments, but I am tired. We are tired. Hopefully we will all be sleeping soon!
