24 Week Check-Up

Today I had my 24 week check-up with my OB, which meant doing my glucose test to make sure I didn't have gestational diabetes. I am some what known by my family and husband for cheating when it comes to doctors orders (not a good quality). I know anaesthesia doesn't make me sick, so I usually don't stick to that whole don't eat before surgery thing. And after both of my knee surgeries I only went to enough rehab appointments to where I could physically walk again and then quickly ditched them-I could do everything at home that they did there. So of course when it came to testing my blood sugar today I bent the rules a little bit (not that this is the right thing to do). Your blood sugar has to be below 140 to pass, and I knew that last time with Lillian my blood sugar was 82 after the test with fasting. Also keep in mind that you have to fast for this test, not a good thing for a starving pregnant lady, and I honestly thought I was going to pass out or throw up this morning on the way to the doctor. So I cheated a little bit, and I had a coke on the way to my check-up. I figured that the 14 grams of sugar wouldn't push me over the edge and worst case scenario I would have to repeat the test. Well, I rolled the dice and won! I drank the coke, didn't feel sick anymore, and still passed the test with a 92 blood sugar reading! The nurse even made the comment, "you probably could have eaten and passed". I just smiled at her.

Unfortunately, I couldn't escape the doctor's office without another little weight warning from my doctor. Thank goodness she was kind about it, and did say that my weight seemed to be all baby and boobs! Honestly, I don't know what it is but this little baby boy leaves me starving all of the time. Oh well, this is the last one for us so I am just going to enjoy it and pray that breastfeeding helps me lose the baby weight (that was what worked last time anyway). Today was also the first time my OB measured my stomach, and it was measuring at 25 weeks! This alone was a big deal to me, because with Lillian I always measured at least two weeks behind. I have a feeling Whitten is going to be a little bigger than Lillian was when she was born. In a few weeks we are going to be having our 3D ultrasound and I cannot wait to see our little boy up close. Lillian looked just like her 3D sonogram so I am anxious to see Whitten's sweet face.

He is going to a big boy, I am pretty sure boys are born a little bigger than girls but you may be suprised. I thought I was going to have a 9 pound baby and he was just as tiny as Lillian, due to that I looked and felt huge! Can't wait to see the 3D pictures. Hope you are feeling well!

Weight warning-- my hinney---you eat whatever you want--- it is all baby and boobs----
Hudson was bigger than Lois Anne, so I'd think Whitten would be bigger...but he'll be just as precious!!
