16 Week Check-up

This morning Lillian and I went to my 16 week appointment, and I am happy to report that everything looked and sounded great! Baby Hays heart rate was 128 to 132; low heart rate might mean a boy? Lillian really loved listening to the heartbeat, even though she did not really know what she was hearing. She just wanted to "bounce baby", which means she wants to sit on my tummy and bounce. I told her that while that is fine now, she probably will not be able to bounce on baby for much longer. I was really nervous that I was going to get a weight warning from my doctor- I got one of those when I was pregnant with Lillian- but thankfully I haven't gained anything in the last five weeks! Which is great considering that I had packed on a few extra pounds just trying to get pregnant in the first place. The next time we go back to the doctor will be for my 20 week appointment and ultrasound on May 5. We cannot wait to see our little one bouncing all over the place.

Baby Hays, I hope that you know how much your Daddy and I already love you. We have prayed for you and for your life for a long time, and are so grateful that God specifically created you for our family. Your big sister Lillian loves to give you kisses and hugs, but her favorite thing is to sit on you and bounce. Lets hope she gets over that before you are born. She is such a little mommy and I just know that she will love helping me take care of her baby brother or sister. Your Daddy is so anxious to feel your kicks and movements (but not as anxious as Mommy is). He constantly is kissing you and seems to always have at least one hand on Mommy's tummy at all times. Already you we are so proud of the little person you are, and cannot wait to meet you and kiss your sweet face.

Love, Mommy

You never can tell-- I always heard a lower rate meant a girl and a faster rate meant a boy---at any rate, we are thrilled to be welcoming baby Hays soon!
